Alalate Uluave Obituary

Alalate (Late') Raymond Uluave

St George

Our sweet angel Alalate (Late') Raymond Uluave completed his earthly mission on Sunday February 21, 2016 @ 12:42 pm, in his home surrounded by all those who loved him. At the time of Late's death he was 30 years old and he called St. George his home. He was born in Kailua, Hawaii on June 13, 1985. He was eleven years old when he moved from Hawaii with his family to LaVerkin, Utah. He was lucky to have two sets of parents: Steven & Sheila Taysom, and Siotame & Kari Uluave. He was even more lucky to be the second oldest of twelve children.

Late was born with Down's syndrome, his siblings preferred to say "Up syndrome." Although his mortal body was burdened with poor health from the time of his birth until the end, he remained happy and always upbeat. He did not allow his physical suffering to dampen his spirit. He was a valiant spirit of our Father in Heaven. Although he was torn between leaving his family and returning to his heavenly home, he had been anxiously waiting to be reunited with our Heavenly Father, and other family members that have died before him.

His time on earth was spent spreading unconditional love to everyone he came in contact with, sharing heartfelt hugs and wet kisses that take your breath away. He loved to hold your cheeks, look you straight in the eyes and say, "I love you!" His gaze could pierce your soul and you could literally feel the pure love of Christ. He had the ability to lift heavy burdens with a simple touch of his hand, or with his simple message of "I love you." He loved to tease, loved to laugh, and sometimes his laughs came at inappropriate times. He loved to sing and dance. He was a musician and loved playing his piano, guitar, uke, drums, and bongos. Before losing his ability to walk without pain, he was a Special Olympics athlete and loved playing soccer, basketball, bowling, and football.

We have realized his purpose on earth has been to teach us how to be better individuals, and not for us to learn how to take care of his disabilities. From the moment of his birth until his last breath, he continued to teach us to be a better person with his unconditional love, patience, compassion, empathy, forgiveness, simple faith, being grateful for what we have, and to find the brighter side of life.

Our Angel in Heaven will be missed immensely, but we find comfort knowing that families are forever and we will be reunited with him one day. We also believe we have gained a new guardian angel, Alalate Raymond Uluave.

Late' is survived by his parents: Steven R. Taysom & Sheila A. Taysom, Siotame I. Uluave & Kari Duffin Uluave. His siblings from oldest to youngest: Kalisi D. Uluave, Eliakaniu P. Uluave, Siotame A. Uluave (Molly Shields Uluave) Sheila A. Larsen (W. Dee Larsen), Kenzie M.Taysom, Christopher S. Taysom, Tevita T. Uluave, Malia A. Uluave, Shalye M. Uluave, Lolina S. Uluave, and Ika S. Uluave.
