Brandon Goodwin Obituary

Brandon Craig Goodwin

St. George

Brandon Craig Goodwin, our beloved husband, father, brother and son passed away unexpectedly at his home November 2, 2012. He was born on October 9, 1968 in Cedar City, Utah to his parents, Gordon and Doris Goodwin. He graduated from Cedar High School in 1986. Brandon had the desire to make a difference and serve selflessly. He enlisted in the Marines and was diligent in his service for our country that he loved. He married Heather Oliver on March 6, 1993 and they were blessed with two beautiful children, Quade and Kaycee Goodwin.

As a young boy Brandon captured your heart with his contagious smile, he was full of life and always a jokester! He was always happy and loved having fun. He enjoyed Little League, football and wrestling but his jokester abilities turned out to be one of his finest attributes. He loved to make people laugh and always loved a good prank. Quade watched and learned the tricks from his dad and will continue to bring laughter and life to those he loves like Brandon always did. He was a Boy Scout and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an accomplished pianist and was excited for Kaycee to take lessons and learn to play as well. Brandon enjoyed his time in the outdoors and fall was his favorite time of year. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and loved spending time in the mountains where he and Heather created life long memories for their family. He was happy to see the excitement that his kids welcomed the tradition of love and respect for marksmanship that was handed down to him. He taught Quade and Kaycee about skill and accuracy along with patience and respect. Brandon enjoyed golf and was a natural right from the start. He loved to live life, lived to tease and REALLY loved his San Francisco 49ers. Brandon loved his wife and children. He embraced the challenge of teaching Quade, his 16 year old son, how to drive this past year, with every ride there was a story to be told! Brandon was so proud of Quade making good grades and for the young man he was becoming. Kaycee was her Daddy's little girl. In Brandon's eyes she could do no wrong. She was perfect. He was proud of her accomplishments in cheer and volleyball and took great pride in watching her perform. Brandon was very talented and artistic and it showed in everything he did. At a young age , he learned the importance of hard work and he worked hard for his achievements. He worked as a Tile Setter for years and took great pride in his work and it showed in every job that he did. No matter what he was doing, Brandon did it with a smile. At the time of his death, he was working as General Manager for Wing Nuts of St. George. Our lives will never be the same. We love you and we will miss you Brandon.

Brandon is survived by his wife, Heather and their two children, Quade and Kaycee of St. George, Utah; parents, Gordon and Doris Goodwin of Cedar City, Utah; brother, Justin (Kim) Goodwin of Cedar City, Utah; brother, Aaron (Julie) Goodwin of Cedar City, Utah; three nephews; three nieces; and grandmother, Irene (Jack) Goodwin Bishop. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Humpbert and Marian Rosenberg; grandfather, Robert Goodwin; and an uncle, Kevin Rosenberg.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah. Visitations will be held Thursday evening, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, prior to services, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., both at Metcalf Mortuary. Interment will follow at the St. George City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221. Brandon made the world a better place. It is hard to think of him not being here with the little things he just did so naturally. We will all miss his smile and happy disposition so much! Brandon possessed a strong work ethic, and was always willing to help his loving family whenever he was needed. This was never a chore to him - he was truly happy to help out. All these things were second nature traits to him. Most of us strive for those attributes but fall short in comparison. He was just a joy to be around and we will miss him greatly. It is all our blessing to have been associated in any way with such a sweet, loving, and kind man. Our thoughts and our prayers are with all of Brandon's family and friends - especially Heather, Quade, and Kaycee, Gordon, Doris, Justin, and Aaron. May the peace of the gospel help take the sting out and help soothe and calm your hearts and spirits knowing this life is not the end; with the sure knowledge we will all see your husband, father, son, and friend again. We love you Brandon.

Dear Doris and Gordon, & Justin and Aaron, I was so sorry when I received a call from my mom a little while ago, informing me of Brandon's passing. Doris and Gordon, you are both such good parents to all 3 of your boys, and I'm sure this is the most difficult time a parent can ever imagine going through. I remember you as such a young, joyful mother with Brandon, Doris; you were always so patient and kind to him, and you truly found the humor and joy in being a young mother. I'm just so sorry that you are going through this terrible loss; there are no words I can think of to say that can lessen your pain, but please know that your friends are all around you, here to support you if there is anything at all that we can do to make your pain a little more bearable. I didn't really know Heather, Quade and Kaycee well, but from the sweet words written about the family in the Spectrum, I can tell that Brandon was a wonderful father and a loving husband. I can only imagine the sorrow they are feeling, and I wish there were a way to lessen their pain. Please pass on my sympathy to them. I will come and visit you soon; it was so fun to spend some time with your family at your 60th birthday party, Doris. I just wish I had known that night that it was the last time I would see Brandon, and I would have sat a little closer to him and looked a little longer at his beautiful face. Please let me know, Doris and Gordon, if there is anything at all I can do to make things easier for you as you work through this terribly difficult change. Take care, Friends. Love, Kathy (Topham) Sullivan
