Eileen Sherratt Obituary

Eileen Roberts Sherratt

Cedar City

Eileen Roberts Sherratt, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, was beckoned through the veil on March 12, 2017, by her sweetheart, Garth-after nearly eight years of separation. She was 83 years young.

Born October 23, 1933, in Parowan, Utah to Leonard W Roberts and Wanda Lillian Heap Roberts; she was fourth in a family of four boys and four girls. She grew up in Beaver, Utah attending primary and secondary schools; graduating from Beaver Seminary (1950) and Beaver High School (Class of 1951). Shortly after graduating high school, she began her first job at Beaver Drug store.

Mom and Dad were sealed for time and all eternity on September 29, 1953 in the Saint George LDS Temple. They met through her oldest brother Floyd, and a blind date led to 55 years of wedded bliss, rearing nine children and creating a legacy of service and family unity.

A soft spoken and gentle mother, she never raised her voice in anger, and loved to serve her large family, comprised of four boys and five girls. She enjoyed gardening and preserved much of her harvest, to sustain the family during the winter months. She loved baking and cooking and tried many new recipes; results of which had rave reviews from all who sampled her dishes.

Mom was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in each auxiliary, and magnifying each calling. Her most cherished call was as a temple worker, attending women on their wedding day in the Bride's room. This brought her great joy to serve them and share in their special day. Her testimony was pure, as is evident in the life she lived; one of service and charity.

She is survived by her loving children, Garth Lanell (Allyson) Sherratt, of West Jordan, UT; Jillyn Henderson, Larraine (Glen) Scott, and Norman R (Vickie) Sherratt, all of Cedar City, UT; Janet (Stan) Robinson, of Murray, UT; Dan Boyd (VaLyn) Sherratt, John Leonard (Misty) Sherratt, and Bonnie Jean (Jeffrey) Hyatt, all of Cedar City, UT; 35 grandchildren, 41¼ great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother Charles Gordon Roberts, and sisters LuWana Hess, Marilyn Brown and Carma Jean Ainsworth.

Preceding her in death are her Parents; brothers Floyd H Roberts, Sheldon Heap Roberts, and Baby Boy Roberts; choice daughter Annette Sherratt Mitchell; son-in-law Gary Judson Henderson; grandsons Jason Wesley Backus, Shane Daniel Oliver, and Brandon Craig Goodwin, and granddaughter Latesa Lynn Jenkins.

Services will be held Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:30am at the Mountain View LDS chapel, 370 North 4050 West, Cedar City, UT. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 19, 2017, from 6:00-8:00pm at Southern Utah Mortuary, Cedar City, UT and again on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 10:00-11:00am at the Mountain View LDS Chapel. Interment will be in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. Online condolences can be sent to www.sumortuary.com.

We wish to express a heartfelt thanks to grand-daughter Nicole Eileen Sherratt for her loving and patient care of her grandma and to Brenda, Debbie, and the Iron County Home Health staff for their compassionate care and assistance with mom.

I wish our family could be there with you at this difficult time. I will admit it has been far too long since I took the opportunity to visit with my sweet aunt and my cousins. However that does not diminish my memories of her tender, kind, and generous ways. Truly one of the classiest people on the planet! I always felt that my Uncle Garth struck gold when he met and married Auntie Eileen!! Hugs, prayers and cherished memories for all my cousins!!
Love from: Barbara, Sherry, Doug, and Janna

Loving thoughts and memories of my sweet sister. Despite her many trials, she always thought of others. Growing up, I often went to stay with Garth and Eileen out on Lund highway. I remember my sister getting cold water from the well, churning butter, gardening, canning, and cooking yummy food. The last few years I have visited on the phone but not as much as I should and unfortunately have not made it up to see her for far too long. I know she is with her sweetheart and with many other family members and friends. I respected so many things about her and she was an inspiration in so many ways. I loved her very much and she takes this love with her until I see her again.
