Kraig Kosanke Obituary

Kraig S. Kosanke

St. George

Kraig Steven Kosanke, 54, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2013. He was born December 27, 1958, in Moab, Utah, to Steven and Beverly Beecher Kosanke. He married Glenda Cundall on November 15, 1997, in LaVerkin, Utah, later solemnized in the St. George temple on December 5, 1998.

Kraig was born of goodly parents and was raised in the foothills of the LaSal mountains and spent his free time hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, and growing up to be a wonderful man. He rode bulls in high school and went to college on a baseball scholarship. After that, his life was all about his boys. They are his greatest pride and joy. He missed being able to go fishing and hunting with them, but they were all in his heart B every minute, every day. His greatest pride has been to see his boys to grow up to be hardworking young men. When he married Glenda, he took her children into his heart as well and loved them, taught them, and laughed with them.

Kraig worked for many years as a cabinetmaker. Woodworking was his passion and he had a real talent to create beautiful things. Many people have been blessed by his gift.

For the last 2.5 years Kraig has battled a horrible cancer, the treatment for which left his body broken and injured. He fought so valiantly and with such courage that he was an example to many, many people. He continues to be a blessing to so many of us.

He is survived by his wife Glenda of St. George, mother Beverly Bowen (Moab), sister Shannon Krist (Ron)(LaSal), sons Keegan (Destiny) (Jerome AZ), Kwinton (Brynne) (Stites ID), Kelby (Celeste) (Stites ID); Kolton (Hannah) (Stites ID), Kyrell (Terra) (Stites ID), Kaleb (Stites ID), and Kiowa (Stites ID); his stepchildren Jon Phillips Donnarae)(Charleston NC), Emily Hudson (Kirk) (Fielding), Stephen Phillips (Salt Lake City), and his 7 wonderful grandchildren

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Southgate Chapel located at 1068 Chandler Drive (just off Tonaquint). Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am prior to services at the Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

We are so grateful for the care that Kraig received from so many of his doctors, the hospital, and Red Cliffs Rehab Center as well as the many friends and neighbors who have helped us on this journey.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, (435) 673-2454. Friends may sign Kraig's guestbook at www.spilsburymortuary.com.

Kraig "Bubba" was a great man in life. He was always good to my mother-n-law Kathy. I hope that Glenda can get through this and and remember that she will see him again.

Kraig was a wonderful husband, father, stepfather and grandfather, not to mention one of my two favorite brothers-in-law. I will miss his teasing and delicious BBQ ribs. RIP, Kraig. You may be gone, but never forgotten.
