Michelle Carpenter Obituary

Michelle Carpenter

St. George, Utah

Michelle Carpenter, 58, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning on August 6, 2017 after her 11 year battle with a very rare, terminal cancer. She will be dearly missed by the many lives that she touched. Michelle was the second child of 5, born to Paul and Donna Martin. She was born in Cedar City, Utah on March 30, 1959.

When she was 2, the family moved to Salt Lake until she was 12 years old. The Martin family then headed south to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she attended her high school years at Chaparral High. She graduated with the class of 1977.

Michelle was raised with the faith and values of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

After graduating high school, Michelle moved to St. George, Utah to attend Dixie State college. She soon met the love of her life and spouse of 39 years, Douglas Blake Carpenter. They were married on April 7, 1978.

Douglas and Michelle made St. George home for themselves, and their 5 children (with a few moves from Las Vegas, Arizona, and Northern Utah) St. George felt like home for the Carpenter family, so most of the children's school years, they lived in St. George.

Michelle was a stay at home mom, raising her family, and taking care of the home. She also had her own business doing home cleaning and construction clean up.

She is survived by her husband Douglas Blake Carpenter of St. George, UT. her daughter Cory Lee Avery, and husband Robert Dale Avery, of St. George, UT, son Ryan Douglas Carpenter of Las Vegas, NV, daughter Felicia Ann Day, of St. George UT, daughter Elizabeth Michelle Carpenter, of Tucson, AZ, and son Jacob Riley Carpenter, of St. George, UT and her 12 wonderful grandchildren.

She was truly an amazing, courageous and inspirational woman to so many. Her faith was strong in our Heavenly Father and the plan of salvation. Her love for others, service, and strong testimony, will continue to inspire her friends, and loved ones always.

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 12, 2017, at the Pine View Ward Stake Center, 2450 E. 600 N. at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing prior from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will be held at the Tonaquint Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at mcmillanmortuary.com

Michelle and I had a lot of fun when we were teenagers. Sleep overs, long talks, double dates... I am grateful for Michelle's friendship and pray that your family will find peace.

I will miss you Michelle. You are a courageous, valiant spirit. You will no doubt be busy working on the other side. I have many fond memories. Thanks for being my other big sister. You taught me how to have a little class. Thanks for being such a great wife to my brother and a great Mother to my nieces and nephews. Love you much
