Ruth Landon Obituary

Ruth Aileen Landon

St. George

Ruth Aileen Landon passed from mortality on May 21, 2014 at her Bloomington home. She was born to William and Jean Aiken on August 14, 1926 in Hemet, California, Ruth was the youngest of six siblings. Her father was a reformed Presbyterian Minister, and during her childhood the family lived in Hemet, Pasadena and Fresno for his ministry.

Ruth met Keith Landon and their 1958 marriage created a blended family including his son, Berl, her daughter, Diane and later their two sons, James and Scott. They were sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on February 3, 1963.

Ruth joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1957. She served in many capacities and in numerous callings, including Relief Society President, Relief Society Counselor, Primary President, Primary Counselor and Primary Teacher. For more than 25 years she worked out of her home as a Jafra Cosmetics Consultant and retired as a manger. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress, and loved entertaining, camping with church girlfriends and playing games with her grandchildren. In 1989, after 30 years in Covina, California she and Keith moved to St. George, Utah where they were active in the Bloomington 7th ward and its Empty Nesters group, enjoying traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Keith; parents, William and Jean Aiken; brothers: Wilbur, John and George Aiken; and sisters: Roberta Jordan and Mary Huston.

The kindest of people, she will be dearly missed by her children: Diane (Bob) Lawrence, James Landon and Scott Landon; grandchildren: Terry, TJ, Jeremy, Tammy, James, Teresa Dunlop, Sara Maurer, Joel, John and Rachel Landon and Matthew and Bret Lawrence; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

A special thank you to in-home caregivers, Pat Swain and Ronnie Dennis, and Dixie Hospice Care.
