Shayne Arthur Copeland, age 51, passed away Tuesday July 31, 2012 in St. George, Utah. Shayne passed away from results of a heart-attack. He was born November 8, 1960 in Pocatello, Idaho to C. Duane and Donna Abercrombie Copeland. Shayne married Janae McDonald on July 8, 1983 in the Los Angeles LDS temple. They lived in Hurricane, Utah where they were raising their two daughters. Shayne worked in law enforcement as a Lieutenant in the Hurricane City Police Department for twenty-three years. He loved the city of Hurricane and serving the people there.

Shayne lived in New York as a small boy, but was mostly raised in Aberdeen, Idaho. Shayne loved all sports, but particularly loved and excelled in football. He played on the Aberdeen High School football team. He loved fishing, golf, and playing games with his family.

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served a full-time mission in the San Bernardino, California Mission. Shayne served many church callings; one of his favorites was working with the young men in his ward, and most recently first counselor in the Hurricane 5th ward bishopric.

He was loved by the community and was always the first one there to help others. Shayne was honest, tender-hearted, and was always concerned with the well-being of his family. He was very proud of his wife, Janae, and his two daughters.

Surviving family include his wife, Janae Copeland, daughters Sierra Copeland and Shelby Copeland, also his mother Donna Abercrombie Copeland of Santa Clara, Utah, and best friend and brother Brent Copeland of St. George, Utah.

He is preceded in death by his father, C. Duane Copeland, sister Teresa Copeland Gardella, grandparents Art and Dorothy Abercrombie, Buck and Nedra Copeland, and nephew John Gardella.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hurricane Stake Center, 677 S. 700 W., Hurricane, UT. A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 5 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and also Monday morning from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services, both held at the Stake Center. Interment will be at the Aberdeen Idaho Cemetery.
