James DeNorris "Nordy" Votaw, age 71, of Springfield, KY passed away at 9:50 p.m., Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born in Washington County on June 26, 1950 to the late Charles Robert "Chuck" and Mary Anne Greene Votaw.
He was an Army veteran and owned and operated Nordy's Wrecker Service in Springfield for forty-two years.
Preceding him in death were two infant grandchildren, Marcus and Lucas Devine on October 11, 1993.
Survivors include his wife, Lanetta Lewis Votaw; three sons, Jonathan Votaw (Jessica), Charlie J. Votaw and Tristyn "Biscuit" Votaw all of Springfield; six daughters, Camille Votaw (Joe) of Lebanon, Sarah "Pooh" Votaw, Stacey Price, Ashley Votaw (Daniel) and Chasity Peyton all of Springfield and Tiffany Simmons (Danny) of New York; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren and a brother, Charles R. "Butch" Votaw, Jr. of Florida.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 1st at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Beverly Lee, officiating.
Burial was on Cemetery Hill.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Kenny Greene, Clay Devine, Jeff Votaw, Randy Smith, Larry Milburn, Jamie Hardin and Doug Byrd.
Serving as casket bearers were Charlie S. Votaw, Ashley Votaw, Daniel Pevley, Chasity Peyton, Jonathan Votaw, Gil Corey, Kathy Briscoe and Shane Briscoe.
Carey & Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
