Walter Pippin Obituary

Walter Lee Pippin
FARMVILLE - Walter Lee Pippin, age 91, passed away peacefully at his home in Farmville, NC on August 9, 2025. He was born in Greene County to Lady Ruth and Richard Pippin on November 18th, 1933.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mittie Baker Rouse Pippin, Children- Dr. Lee Pippin (spouse: Vicki), Dianne Pippin Hauser (spouse: Richard), Becky Pippin Peyton, and Herman Pippin. Grandchildren are Walter Peyton, Matthew Peyton (Tori), Sterling Pippin (Cami), Tori Pippin Rouse (Chris), Richard Pippin (Christina Bledsoe), and 10 Great Grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Virginia Pippin Wooten, Bryan Pippin and Joe Pippin. Walter graduated from NCSU on a ROTC Scholarship. He served for 2 years in the Army, stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana, and also served for many years in the National Guard. He retired as Supervisor, Lenoir County Farmers Home Administration in Kinston, NC. Walter was a member and Elder of Farmville Presbyterian Church, where he and Mittie were married in 1955. Walter was part of the "Kitchen crew," always there to cook and make the Iced tea! He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying fishing and quail hunting- a passion which he passed down to his sons and grandsons. Walter was the Best Husband, Daddy, Grandpa, and "Pa", always putting our family first in everything he did. He loved to "fix things" always showing us ways to improvise and make things better. He greatly enjoyed assisting Sterling at Sandy Run Outdoors, located on the Pippin Family Farm. Walter loved "working" bird dogs and then training them to hunt. Walter was a true Southern Gentleman, a Christian man, a gentle soul. He will be greatly missed by all, he was a friend to everyone.
A private burial will take place Wednesday morning, August 13th, followed by visitation at Farmville Presbyterian Church, Family Life Center, from 1:00 to until 2:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church at 2 pm.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steve Hamstead and the staff at Physicians East, Farmville, for their excellent care of Walter throughout the years. We would also like to thank Kyle Willis and members of the Farmville Rescue Squad for their show of compassion and support with Walter's passing.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Farmville Presbyterian Church, Farmville Presbyterian Preschool or Farmville Rescue Squad.
