Dale West Obituary

Dale R. West, 49

MUNCIE - Dale R. West, 49, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his residence following a three-year battle with Leukemia.

He was born February 11, 1967 in Muncie, the son of Floyd and Barbara (McGuigan) West. Dale graduated from Southside High School in 1985, and was a Marine Corps Veteran.

After Dale left the Marine Corps, he went into the Japanese Automotive industry. Dale moved from an entry-level position at Subaru of Indiana in Lafayette to Plant Manager of TS Tech in New Castle. He was very well respected and was passionate about his job. Co-workers believed that Dale made the Indiana plant everything that it is today.

Mr. West enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He liked to play golf and softball regularly. Dale enjoyed coaching his two sons in wrestling. Above all, Dale's family was the most important thing in his life.

Dale was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Christine "Christy" (Young) West; five children, Brittaney, Trenton (wife, Sarah), Kayleigh, Nathan, and Ava West; three grandchildren, Braylyn, Rowyn and Coltyn West; his parents, Floyd and Barbara West; his mother and father-in-law, Donna and Jack Young; and many other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Melinda French.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Tom Metzger presiding. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by the Delaware County Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2016 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel or one hour prior to mass at the church on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dale West Memorial Fund, c/o Mutual Bank, 1912 W. McGalliard Rd., Muncie, IN 47304.

I am extremely grateful for the time I was able to work with Dale and get to know him. He was so down to earth and caring with his team. Dale truly encouraged my growth and provided so much support. So many times after I felt like I had fumbled or felt lost, he would let me know he believed in me. I am heartbroken that I will not be able to make him laugh with some ridiculous idea I come up with, shake his head, and walk away from me again. Dale was more than a boss and a mentor to so many people. He was a friend. He was very, very proud of his children and spoke of them often. I hope Dale passed knowing how much he was appreciated and respected.

I have known Christy and Dale for about 20 some years. Even though we are far apart i still kept in contact on Facebook with them. They were my neighbors in high school, and i looked up to them of how strong their family was thru thick and thin. My heart is broken for the #weststrong family. Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
PS A FREAKING AWESOME GUARDIAN ANGEL!!!! XOXO
