John Parker Obituary
Muncie - John R. Parker, 79, passed away Monday afternoon, October 8, 2018, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Muncie on October 8, 1939, the son of Roby and Lena (Sewell) Parker, attended Muncie Central High School, and served for two years in United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Parker was employed at Ontario Corporation for twenty-seven years.
He was an amateur radio operator, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golf, and belonged to a gun club.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-eight years, Ophelia; two sons, Chris Parker and Robert Parker; six grandchildren, Bryant Robert Parker, Dante, Isaiah, Alan, Dylan, and Shonte Teer; a brother, Fred Parker (wife, Elaine); his sister, Shirley Cantrell (husband, Charles); and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Paul Parker and Roby Parker, Jr.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 12, 2018, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Military Rites by the USMC and Veterans of Delaware County.
Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday or one hour prior to services on Friday.
