Alice Foxworth Obituary

SALTERS - Alice McKnight Foxworth, 88, widow of Walter Robert Foxworth, Sr., died Sunday, March 28, 2010, in Kingstree Nursing Facility. Mrs. Foxworth was born November 10, 1921, in Greeleyville, a daughter of Julius Elliott and Mary Frances McKnight. She was a former secretary at Scottswood Plantation, owned and operated a store in Taft, along with her husband Walter, and was an excellent cook, who baked cakes for everyone in the surrounding communities. Mrs. Foxworth was a longtime member of Trio United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Frances Miller and Gladys Dangerfield, and brother, J. Elliott McKnight.
 
Surviving are: a daughter, Mary Elizabeth "Libby" Cooper and her husband Lloyd, of Salters; 4 sons, James Elliott "Jimmy" Foxworth and his wife Mitsy, of Kingstree, Randy Brice Foxworth and his wife Holly, of Andrews, Joseph Harold Foxworth, of Greenwood, and Walter Robert Foxworth, Jr. and his wife Debbie, of Chapin; a sister, Edythe Ard, of Moncks Corner; 10 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
 
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Sandra Hatchell, Rev. Gary Adams, and Rev. David Marcy, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Kingstree United Methodist Church, with burial in Kingstree Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Williamsburg Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Trio United Methodist Church, 39 Front St., Salters, SC 29590.
