Almighty God, in His divine wisdom, called Angela Michelle Luck-Holloway from labor and suffering to reward on Monday, February 18, 2008, in Heartland Hospice in Columbia, SC.
Angela was the daughter of Mrs. Frances Carpenter-Fields and the late Dr. James W. Luck, and the stepdaughter of the late Lt. Col. Richard L. Fields. She was born and reared in Columbia.
While a young girl, she joined Bethel AME Church with her family. She attended the public schools of Richland District One and graduated from Dreher High School. Angela entered Fisk University, Nashville, TN, and remained there until her illness caused her to return home. Later, she completed her studies at Midlands Technical College in Columbia, and was employed at Lexington Medical Hospital as an anaesthesia technician until the onset of her recent illness.
Angela, often called Angie, had an active childhood in church as well as in the Columbia Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, the Millie Lewis Modeling Agency, dance and the White Gloves and Party Manners Program. She took piano lessons at Rice Music House and was an avid reader.
A gentle, caring person, Angie enjoyed her pets. She was reared with Jacque, her poodle, and recently departed from Teddy, her cocker spaniel. She traveled widely in the United States and abroad.
Angie resided in Fort Valley, GA and Willamston, SC, after marriage and while rearing her children. She will be sorely missed by her survivors.
Left to share precious memories are one son, Quincy Alford of Columbia; one daughter, Alicia Holloway of Columbia; one grandson, Austin Avery Holloway of Columbia; her mother, Frances Carpenter-Fields of Columbia; one sister, Danyelle (James) Young of Summerville, SC; two nephews, Joshua Luck of Hampton, VA, and Matthew Young of Summerville, SC; one niece, Meghan Young of Summerville, SC; one uncle, Dr. Carl A. (Parthenia) Carpenter of Orangeburg, SC; one aunt, Mary Carpenter-Gordon of Bowie, MD; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in her memory to: The American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
