Ansel Hall Obituary

Ansel Gary Hall, 79, a well-loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away on April 28, 2018. Another role Gary dearly loved was being a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This work fit him perfectly as he was always friendly and outgoing and had a deep love for the Savior and His gospel.

Gary was born on October 8, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to Ansel Thomas Hall and Dorothy Della Arave Hall. He was the oldest of eight children. Gary was raised in Delta, Utah until his family moved to Yuma, Arizona in 1952. He graduated from Yuma High School in 1956.

After high school, Gary went to school at Brigham Young University where he met Millie Marie Robinson. Millie waited for Gary while he served a church mission to Northern Mexico from 1958 to 1961. They married June 23, 1961.

Gary and Millie were the proud parents of nine children. The family lived in Calexico, California, Tucson, Arizona, and Yuma, Arizona. Gary worked as a store manager and a plaster and drywall contractor. He earned a Masters degree in Bilingual Education and taught ESL and Spanish.

After retirement Gary and Millie moved to Beaver, Utah and made it their own. They enjoyed gathering their family of nine children and twenty-eight grandchildren to share time in Beaver with them. Gary was known by his grandchildren for telling engaging stories of his life.

From 2004-2006 Gary, with Millie right by his side, served in the temple presidency of the Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas temple in Mexico.

After those two amazing years in Mexico, Gary and Millie returned to Beaver where they loved working in their garden and continuing missionary service. They served as missionaries in St. George from 2012-2013. And as this work was such a part of them, they served as full-time live at home missionaries in Beaver from 2014-2015 and from 2017-April 2018. Gary passed away wearing the missionary tag that defined the kind of man he was.

Gary is survived by his wife Millie Hall of Beaver, Utah. He is also survived by his children Tina Snow (Jeff) Yuma, AZ; Jana Moore (Steve) Yuma, AZ; David Hall (Cari) Gilbert, AZ; Sharalee Mortazavi, West Hills, CA; Karen Borg (Tustin) South Jordan, UT; Lori Wilmsen (Matt) Phoenix. AZ; Jeff Hall, Prescott, AZ; Natalie Hancock (Roland) Winslow, AZ; and Jon Hall (Lisa) Queen Creek, AZ; twenty-eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Gary's surviving siblings are DeAnn Westover, Cheree Dawn Emery, Max Hall (Lynna), Bennie Hall (Beverly) and Vicky Shoopman.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents Ansel Thomas Hall and Dorothy Della Arave, and siblings Luane and Lora Lee Hall.
