July 2, 1949 - April 13, 2025
ELGIN, South Carolina - A service to celebrate the life of Barbara Jean Knight Nelson, 75, will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Powers Funeral Home, Lugoff. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharing Hope of South Carolina.
Mrs. Nelson passed away on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Born in Lancaster County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Lillian Christine Whitaker Knight. She enjoyed reading, watching and feeding birds, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are her sons, William Larry Nelson of Mt. Pleasant, S.C. and James Michael Nelson (Jamie) of Elgin; sisters, Shirley Rollins (Larry), Mary Lou Catledge and Lillie Pressley; and 3 grandchildren, Sara Elizabeth Nelson, Anna Marie Nelson, and James Michael Nelson, Jr. She was predeceased by her parents; brothers-in-law, Joe Catledge and Steve Pressley; and granddaughter, Lyndsey Christine Nelson.
