Betty Knight Obituary

WINNSBORO — Graveside services for Betty Lyles Knight, age 80, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, in the Greenbrier United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Reverend Walt Ballenger. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday evening at Pope Funeral Home.
 
Mrs. Knight died in her home on July 12, 2009. She was wife of the late William Marcus Knight and daughter of the late James Davis and Estelle Castles Lyles, born in the Greenbrier Community on March 12, 1929. She was a retired school teacher from the Fairfield County School system and a lifelong member of Greenbrier United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed being a member of the Greenbrier United Methodist Women.
 
Mrs. Knight is survived by two daughters, Patricia Knight Drake and her husband Robert, and Mitzie Knight Renwick and her husband Charles, both of Winnsboro; two brothers, Carl Lyles and his wife Edith of Winnsboro, and James F. Lyles of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Mildred Gustafson and her husband, Pete of Winnsboro, and Judy Glover and her husband Charles of Moncks Corner; and three grandchildren, Robert William Drake, Andrew Lyles Drake and William McGill Renwick.
 
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Knight was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Rita Lyles.
 
Serving as pallbearers are Robert Drake, Andrew Drake, Mac Renwick, James D. Lyles, James Quay Thomas, Ed Glover, Tommy Lyles and Guerry Hensley.
 
Memorials may be made to Greenbrier United Methodist Church, 681 Greenbrier Mossydale Road, Winnsboro, SC 29180.
 
Pope Funeral Home is serving the Knight family.
