Candace Gibbs Obituary
Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Lynchburg, SC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening at Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, Florence.
Candace was born in Sumter, SC, the daughter of Billy Atkinson and Meechie Nesbitt Rankin. She was a graduate of Hudgens Academy, Lynchburg. She worked as an RCA with the Lynchburg Post Office. A member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Candace was devoted to the church's youth activities. Candace actively supported the East Clarendon Wolverine Cheerleading Squad of which her daughter Amelia is a member.
Survivors are her husband, Clark Gibbs, Lynchburg, two children, Amelia Atkinson Gibbs and Garrett Clark Gibbs both of the home. Her mother, Meechie Nesbitt Rankin and her husband Mike, Lynchburg, her father, Billy Atkinson, Lynchburg; a brother, Chance Atkinson, and his wife Rachael, Kingstree; nieces, Bailey Atkinson, Mary Logan Atkinson, nephews, Dylan Atkinson and Hampton Beard, her maternal grandmother, Myrlene Nesbitt.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Johnnie Faye Nesbitt, 10745 Douglas Swamp Road, Lynchburg, SC 29080
Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W. Palmetto Street, Florence, SC, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Billy and Meechie, I doubt you will remember me but many years ago I used to babysit for Cale and Betty Jo down at the lake. I remember several times you two being there and I would keep Candace, too. BJ was just an infant and I had my hands full with Julie, Kelly and Candace.
