Columbia, South Carolina - Donald R. Anderson, 83, died on March 10, 2023, at his home in Columbia, SC after a short battle with leukemia. He was the loving husband of Brenda Gayle Anderson and they shared 59 years of marriage together. Born in Darlington, SC, he was the son of Lawrence and Mayble Anderson.
Dickie, as he is known, was an Army veteran and served his country overseas in France. Returning home, he got married, moved to Columbia, and started a career in the Automotive Industry. Retiring from that, he again joined the work force in Personnel, where he remained until full retirement.
He enjoyed anything outdoors. His two main hobbies were golfing and fishing. He was a huge Carolina Gamecock fan and lover to watch NASCAR.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gayle, and two daughters, Wendy Weathersbee (Jimmy) and Beth Belcher (Sam). He is also survived by four grandchildren, Tyler Gillian; Rabun Pryor; Olivia Torrey; and Ethan Belcher. He had one great-grandchild, Jaxton Pryor.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Temples-Halloran Funeral Home Chapel (5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212) beginning at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends before the service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Oliver Gospel Mission (1100 Taylor Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or 803-254-6470).
