Doyle McBride Obituary
Doyle Everett McBride, 76, of Chapin died Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Prisma Health Richland due to complications from an accidental fall on September 4th.
Born February 11, 1949, he was the son of the late F.E. and Myrtis Williams McBride. Doyle attended Ninety Six schools where upon graduation in 1967 he received the coveted and rare "Mr. Wildcat" award for his outstanding accomplishments in athletics after lettering and excelling in all four varsity sports during his high school career. He attended The University of South Carolina and graduate school at St. Leo University. Doyle had a distinguished career in the U.S. Army rising to the rank of Lt Colonel. He served as Logistics Officer on General Norman Schwarzkopf's staff supporting operations across Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Vietnam.
While nearing the end of his military service, Doyle observed that the Department of Defense was contracting more support services to private contractors and becoming less dependent on personnel like himself. After 20 distinguished years Doyle left the Army in 1990 and he and his brother, Bobby, founded IAP Worldwide Services providing a broad range of logistical and support services to the Department of Defense, the Corps of Engineers and other US government agencies around the world. As a result of their tireless efforts and their stellar reputation in the industry they grew the company to $156 million in annual revenue by 2003. In 2004 IAP was acquired by New York based private equity firm Cerberus Capital Management. Doyle remained CEO and served on the IAP Board of Directors until retiring in 2011 to spend more time on Pawleys Island. In 2020, at the height of the Covid pandemic, Doyle was approached by numerous federal, state, and private entities to source PPE supplies due to his worldwide contacts, logistical expertise and procurement knowledge. This led to the launch of a new company, DEM Logistics, which focuses on procurement and turn key logistic solutions for private and governmental agencies.
Outside of work and devotion to his family, Doyle was a lifelong fan of The University of South Carolina and was a major benefactor to the university both financially and by volunteering his time. He served as a cabinet member of the Garnet Way and was present at most home football, basketball, and baseball games as well as numerous away events either traveling with the team or volunteering to take a group of supporters on his plane to aid the Gamecocks. Doyle was well known for his hospitality in hosting numerous coaches and administrators and their wives at either his Pawleys Island or Caribbean home's.
Doyle was a friend to all and quietly supported numerous people that needed a helping hand and almost always doing it anonymously.
He is survived by his companion, Kathy Snooks, daughters Shannon Weiss (Kip) and Jennifer McBride, grandchildren Taylor Caldwell (Kristia), Kaytlen Toole (Chandler), Dylan Caldwell (Emily), and Jackson Weiss, great-grandchild, Lily Taylor Toole, sister Joyce M. Eddy and brother Bobby E. McBride (Jane) and numerous nieces and nephews.
