Hollywood, South Carolina - Ernest P Sanders, (87), of Hollywood, SC, husband to Gail Sanders (Ahrens) of 61 years, entered into eternal rest on March 26, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Born on December 31, 1934 in Yonges Island, SC, Ernest was a son of the late Thomas Clark Sanders and Mary Elizabeth Smoak Sanders.
Ernest graduated from St.Paul's High School in 1953. He was a member of the Beta Club and Future Farmers of America. Ernest was in the band and played on the basketball team.
He enjoyed fishing,waterskiing and camping. He loved spending time with his family.
Besides his parents, Ernest is preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Sanders and Belton Sanders and one sister, Mary Clark Johnson..
Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Gail Sanders; daughters Beth (Robert) Sears and Mary (Jeff) Wachowski.
Grandchildren Wes (Courtney) Sears, Andrew (Brie) Sears, Amanda (Sean) Wachowski and Michael Wachowski.
Great grandchildren: Ahren Sears, Kaylee Maroney, Peyton Sears,Lizzie Sears and Sage Sears
The family will receive friends on (day, date) from (start time) - (end time) at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley.
A funeral service will be held at (time) on (day, date) at Christ Church in Adams Run, SC. Burial will follow at Christ-St. Paul's Episcopal Church Cemetery.

When we think or Earnest, happy comes to mind. We worked together at The Outboard Shop for many years. Tony said Earnest and David Smoak were the first barefoot water skiers in the area. We vacationed with Earnest and Gail. Went to ski club events very often. Fun memories. He lived a very long life. Our prayers go out for Gail, Mary and Beth
