Dr. Essie Mae Washington Williams COLUMBIA Funeral service for Dr. Essie Mae Washington Williams will be held Saturday 11:00 a.m. (viewing 10:00 a.m.) at Brookland Baptist Church, 1066 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, with entombment to follow in Celestial Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be held today from 1:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. and again from 6:30 p.m. 9:00 p.m. at Leevy's Funeral Home, Taylor Street Chapel. Surviving are her son, Dr. Ronald James (Esther) Williams; daughters, Wanda Williams (Milton) Bailey and Monica T. Williams (Gerald) Hudgens; two brothers, Strom James Thurmond Jr. and Paul Thurmond; sister, Juliana Witman; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends. www.leevy.com
