Eugene Chestnut Jr. COLUMBIA - There will be a homegoing service for Mr. Eugene Chestnut, Jr. on Thursday, December 20, 2012, 11:30 a.m. at Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home with burial at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home, 2930 Colonial Drive, is in charge of the service. Mr. Chestnut, affectionately known to his family as "Pop," passed away on December 13, 2012 at the WJB Dorn VA Hospital. Born in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Eugene Sr. and Dorothy Chestnut. He was educated in the Richland County public school system, graduating with Hopkins High School's Class of 1965. He served in the United States Army, serving his country in Vietnam and receiving several medals for his service. Mr. Chestnut is survived by his sister, Dorothy Hill and nephew, Darryl Hill, both of Columbia, South Carolina; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.
