Mrs. McIver was born in Kitchings Mill, Aiken County, SC, March 10, 1917, of parents, the late Ben Tillman and Faustine Bailey Holman. She graduated from Aiken (Institute) High School as valedictorian. Mrs. McIver attended Coker College and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a B.A. and M.A. in English in 1939. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.
Mrs. McIver taught for several years in Darlington Public Schools. She married John E. McIver, June 1942. For many years while living in Georgia, Mrs. McIver was a member of Women's Club and the DAR, where she was responsible for a weekly radio program. In addition, she was a member of garden clubs for a number of years in each place that she and Mr. McIver lived.
Mrs. McIver was an active member of the Presbyterian Church USA. While a member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church, she served as a Sunday school teacher, as well as being a vibrant member of Presbyterian Women. Mrs. McIver was a member of Sion Presbyterian Church for 34 years, where she served her church in a variety of ways, including Presbyterian Women.
Mrs. McIver is survived by a daughter, Minna McIver Dimmick; son-in-law, Ross A. Dimmick, and granddaughter, Deeanna Dimmick, all of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughter Lt. j.g. Sara McIver Dimmick Visser, USN, of Norfolk, VA; and grandson-in-law Lt. j.g. Ted Visser, USN, of Charleston, SC.
Memorials may be made to Sion Presbyterian Church. Friends may call at the residence.
