Helen Duncan Obituary

Helen Trotter Duncan BATESBURG- Helen Trotter Duncan lost her battle with cancer on December 8, 2012. Aged 80, she died peacefully at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Aiken, SC. Helen was born on October 18, 1932 in Saluda, SC, the daughter of Elzie and Bessie Butler Trotter. She was a long time resident of Batesburg, SC. Helen retired from BAE Industries (formerly United Defense) in Aiken after 17 years. She was previously employed by former Burlington Industries and WABCO in Batesburg. She was a radiant Christian and a loving example to her family, church and many friends. They were her passion and delight. Helen was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church in Batesburg, SC for 60 years. She worked as their dedicated secretary for the last 13 years. As in 1 Thessalonians 1:3, her work was produced by faith, her labor prompted by love, and her endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ralph Duncan, as well as three sisters, Ruth Bray, Lillie Mae Berry and Trannie Gentry. She is survived by daughter Gail (Wayne) Way of Aiken; granddaughters Erika (Randy) Clarke of North Augusta and Casey Way of Aiken; grandson Barrett Way of Aiken; and great-grandson, Aiden Clarke of North Augusta. She also leaves behind three sisters, Annette (Cecil) McCarty of Saluda, Elsie Bedenbaugh of Leesville, and Dorothy (Gene) Rodgers of Saluda; two brothers, Paul (Jennifred) Trotter of Greenwood and Ernest Trotter of Bishopville; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and numerous loving friends. Services will be held at East Baptist Church at 3 o'clock on Monday, December 10, 2012. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family two hours prior to the service in the CEC Building next to the church. Burial will follow at Ridge Crest Memorial Park in Batesburg. Active pallbearers are Gary Johnson, Tony Leaphart, Mickey Matthews, John Wayne Shealy, Randall Warren, and Wilson Warren. Honorary pallbearers are the Adult Senior Ladies Sunday School Class and the Men's Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to Eastside Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2159, Batesburg, SC 29006. Milton Shealy Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.miltonshealy.com
