Lexington, South Carolina - SFC Jack Foster Cook, 86, was received into eternal rest on July 7, 2021. Born March 25, 1935 in Lake View, SC, he was the son of the late Howard Foster and Blanche Blackmon Cooke of Lake View, SC.
The family will receive friends on July 9, 2021 from 6 to 8 at his home in Lexington, SC. Interment will be at Lake View Cemetery, Lake View, SC on Sunday July 11, 2021 at 2 PM with Cooke Funeral Home assisting with the arrangements.
Jack married his childhood sweetheart Betty Ruth Garris Cook and was married for 60 years at the time of her passing. While Serving in the US Army for 20 years took him to many places around the world, such as Panama, Korea, Vietnam, Alaska, Texas and Virginia, South Carolina; Lexington was the place they chose to call home after retirement. After retirement he followed his love of building things and worked in the Construction industry until his 2nd retirement. His passion in life was taking care of his family, working in his garden, and fishing. He loved to watch a little football, baseball and racing when he wasn't reading a good book.
He is survived by daughters, Brenda Cook Young, (Bert) of Lexington SC, Linda Cook Davis, (Melvin) of Lexington, SC and Sharon Cook Medley, (Frank) of Lexington, SC. Sisters, Esther Patterson, Hester Duncan, Lois Wallace, Pansy Bates, Cindy Messer, brothers, Jim Cook and Richard Fairbanks. Grandchildren, Jennifer, Nicholas, Merrissa, Lauren, Kari, Adam and Great grandchildren, Isabella, Savannah, Landon, Collin, Sophia, Matthias, Tobias, Theodore and Charlie.
He was predeceased by his parents, wife, Betty Garris Cook, a son, Jack Foster Cook, Jr, daughter, Glenda Cook Bundrick, grandson, Jackson Lewis Young, brother, Dan Cook, sisters, Mary Allen and Louise Riggs.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Heart of Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Dad. A special thanks to Princetta, Dianne, and Christine whose visits he cherished each week.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bear Swamp Baptist Church, Lake View, SC.
