James Casteen Obituary
August 18, 1940 - October 4, 2023
West Columbia, South Carolina - James O. "Jimmy" Casteen was born August 18, 1940 in Charleston, SC to the late James O. and Elizabeth Dopson Casteen. The family moved to the Columbia area around 1945. He graduated from Columbia High School, Class of 1958. He worked as a General Contractor - Custom Home Builder and Cabinet Maker for nearly 50 years. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1953 and enjoyed teaching people about his Heavenly Father and the hope found in the Bible. He especially enjoyed building Kingdom Halls all around South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Della H. Casteen. He is survived by his sons James A. (Jamey) and his wife Sharon, Michael S. and his wife Merideth; grandchildren Jacob, Jesse and her husband Josh, Michael Jr. (Buddy), Parker, and Cody; great-granddaughter Collins; brother Tim Casteen; sister Hazel Martin and her husband Robert; two nieces; and a large extended family.
His family and friends look forward to the fulfillment of the Bible's promise at John 5:28 & 29 that all who are asleep in death will be resurrected.
A visitation with family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Ariel's Special Events, 1734 Mobile Ave, West Columbia, SC.
