Jeremy Raynard Mickens COLUMBIA - Jeremy Raynard Mickens, 25, died Friday, June 13, 2014, in Columbia, SC. He was born March 25, 1989 in Sumter, SC, a son of Peter Ivan Mickens and Mary Ann Conyers Mickens. He received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Will Lou Gray Opportunity School in West Columbia, SC. He futhered his education at ITT Technical Institute, Columbia, SC. He served in the United State Air Force. Survivors are his parents Peter Mickens of Columbia, SC, and Mary Ann Conyers Mickens of Sumter, SC; one brother Christopher Mickens (Fort Langley-Eustis) Newport News, VA; grandmother Van Jo Mickens of Columbia, SC; four uncles: Columbus (Sarah) Conyers of Paxville, SC, Nolton Conyers and Levi Conyers, Jr., both of Philadelphia, PA, and Elder Dwayne (Sonya) Mickens of Tampa, Fla; seven aunts, Rosetta (Johnny) Robinson of Manning, SC, Olivia (William) Neal of Philadelphia, PA, Viola (Willie) Miller of Sumter, SC, Martha (Woodrow) Sharpe of Charlotte, NC, Valerie (Carl) Thompson of Tampa, Fla, Vanessa Mickens of Sumter, SC and Tina Mickens of Columbia, SC. The celebratory services for Mr. Mickens will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Bethesda Church of God, 2730 Broad Street, Sumter, SC, Al Sims, pastor, District Elder Dwayne A. Mickens, Sr. eulogist, Elder Russell Rogers, presiding. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park. Mr. Mickens will lie in repose one hour prior to service. Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Family is receiving friends at the home of his mother, 882 Club Lane, Sumter, SC. These services have been entrusted to Samuels Funeral Home, LLC Manning, SC.
