ms. calhoon, kurt and mark, i am so sorry for your loss. i just found out earlier today that coach calhoon had passed. i apologize for not being at the services....if i had known i would have certainly been there. i just wanted you all to know that coach calhoon meant the world to me. back in high school he was the first coach on the football team that believed in me and gave me a chance. his belief in me meant so much to me then and still means so much to me now......i will always remember what he did for me back in 1973. to this day when appropriate i still tell the story of that moment back on the old hs field behind hite's restaurant when he showed his belief in me. coach calhoon was such a special man in my life and i am truly heartbroken that he is no longer with us. i will always remember our last time together at ian's viewing....i was able to remain composed until i reached coach in the line and when we saw each other we just hugged each other and started crying. i will truly miss him but i am sure not nearly as much as you all will. he meant a great deal to so many people and thank you for sharing with him with us. my deepest thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Hi Sandy,
From the xgboys web site I learned of the death of Jim. My sincere condolence to you, Mark, Kurt and all your family from Veronica, Joe, their families and myself. We also have a "Snoopy". May you find comfort in knowing Jim is at peace and you will one day meet again. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this difficult time. Your children and grand children will be a great comfort to you. I have four grand children - two in college, two in high school - and they are all close by. I think of our friends and neighbors in Columbia so often and miss them all. Again, my thoughts and prayers for you all. God Bless! Lucille Devitz, Lebanon, Pa.

When I was 20 years old and joined the FBI, Jim Calhoun was the agent who showed me around the office and introduced me to everybody and made me feel so much at ease. As a steno, every time I took dictation from him, he told stories and jokes that I will never forget. The stenos would fight over who could get to take dictation from him so that we could hear more jokes. When my friend Nancy and I would walk downtown at lunchtime, there were several times when Jim would ride in his car beside us and whistle at us over the car intercom. He loved the look of embarrassment he was able to evoke. Those were the good old days. In my 37 years at the FBI, I can truly attest that there has NEVER been anyone like Jim Calhoun and I will miss him dearly. Teresa Redmond Lang, Lexington, SC

Mrs. Sandra, Kurt and Mark,
Wow, what a wonderful man! Richard and I will really miss him. He was genuinely interested in our lives. I love the horse photo, its OUR Marlboro Man. He was a man's man and a ladie's gentleman. Very unique and such a captivating personality. We loved him and all of you. Our prayers are with you daily. You all have the strength for this, love Tracey and Richard Owen

Jim Calhoun had me convinced that it was the duty of the Saturday Steno to bring his lunch on that particular day. Of course, he also had me convinced that it was to be fried chicken, potato salad and baked beans. Much to his amazement, I showed up with the requested meal. I have such warm memories of Jim and my days at the FBI. I am so sorry for your loss and will keep you in my prayers.

Dear Sandra, Kurt, Mark, and family,

Carol and I send our heartfelt condolencdes to you over Jimmy's passing. Jimmy was a mentor, partner, and dear friend to me. I learned so much from him about being a devoted husband and loving father, while also serving my country. He always had the right priority and loved you all more than words can say. His support and guidance, and more importantly his living example, meant so much to me through the years.

Also, I will always cherish the wonderful memories of laughing uncontrollably with him over our shared appreciation of the quirks of human behavior. There has never been a better story teller who could blend insight, wisdom, and humor. Everytime we spoke we would find something to laugh about so hard we would almost cry. Now my tears are over losing my dear friend. I loved Jimmy and will never forget him. I know that he only left us so he could watch out over Ian. I'm so glad I was able to talk with him two weeks ago. His strength and courage inspired me.

With all our love,

Gary & Carol Noesner
