Laddie Greene Hiller
July 2, 1936 - June 15, 2023
Florence, South Carolina - Laddie Greene Hiller, Age 86, of Florence, South Carolina, died at McLeod Hospice House on June 15, 2023. He was born on July 2, 1936, in Columbia, South Carolina, the son of Bob Kendall Hiller and Dorothy Lassetter Hiller and is survived by his wife of 62 years, Beverly Jones Hiller.
Laddie graduated from Dreher High School in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1954, where he participated in all sports and was most proud of quarterbacking South's team in the annual North/South All Star football game. He graduated from Clemson College (now University) in 1958 with a degree in Civil Engineering. An avid Clemson football fan, Laddie was a lifetime member of IPTAY. He served two years active duty in the Army at Ft. Bliss Guided Missile Center in El Paso, Texas, followed by five years of reserve duty attached to a Florence, South Carolina unit and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain.
Laddie followed his father into the concrete pipe business and managed Wallace Concrete Pipe Company in Florence until it was sold. He held the position of Vice-President of Willis Construction Company for several years before partnering with two colleagues to form Mid-Atlantic Drainage, Inc. He was actively involved in its operation up until his death.
Laddie loved the game of golf and enjoyed many years of play at Florence Country Club. He was a long time member of St. Luke Lutheran church.
In addition to his parents, Laddie was pre-deceased by his sister, Nancy Hiller Crawford. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Jones Hiller, and sons Bob Kendall Hiller (Susan) and David William Hiller of Florence, Grandsons Bowman Hiller of Florence and Weston Bates (Meg) of Greenville, nieces Menge Crawford of Charlotte, North Carolina, Hiller Davenport (Ty), nephews Bob Crawford, and Geddings Crawford (Karla), all of Columbia.
A visitation will be held Monday, June 19, 2023, at 1:00 pm at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1201 Cherokee Road in Florence, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery immediately after the ceremony, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church, The Hiller Family Fund at Eastern Carolina Community Foundation, PO Box 2615, Florence, SC, 29503, or a charity of one's choice.

When my son, Pastor Rusty Kehl announced this in morning worship I thought his name was so familiar.I knew him at Dreher. I graduated in '53. So sorry to learn this. I have visited a few times and now wonder if I might have met him. I remember his sister as well. Mary Walker Kehl
