Saluda, South Carolina - Linda C. Attaway, daughter of the late Claudie and Curtis Attaway, passed away at Lexington Medical Center on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Born in Saluda, South Carolina, she is survived by a sister, Gloria Caldwell (Ted) of Saluda, South Carolina; by a brother, Milton Attaway (Willadean) of Summerton, South Carolina; by nieces Phyllis Harrison (Sam) of Summerton and Laura Caldwell of Lexington; nephews Mark Attaway (Verne) of Florence; and Patrick Caldwell of Pendleton, South Carolina. Also surviving are great- nephews, Will Caldwell, Caleb Caldwell, Chris Brown and his daughter Jadyn.

Linda was an avid reader, as well, and a good student at Saluda High School from which she graduated in 1958. After four years as an English major at the University of South Carolina, she graduated and took a teaching position at Graniteville High School. From there she began her many years at Lower Richland High School. While there she completed her master's degree in guidance counseling at USC and spent the remainder of her career at Lower Richland as head of the guidance department until her retirement in 1994.

From childhood, Linda loved and respected the natural world and spent much of her free time outside enjoying her young life. Whether playing in the creek as a child, fishing at the family lake house as an adult or enjoying Edisto Beach after her retirement, Linda had an affinity for the water. She loved crossword puzzles, watching old movies, cooking for friends, and caring for her cats.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Riley Unit at the Saluda Nursing Center. She was lovingly cared for and content during her stay and adored all of her caregivers.

As a child, Linda spent nearly every Saturday enjoying the matinees at the Saluda Theater. Since the theater was such a magical place for her, the family requests memorials be made to the Saluda County Historical Society's Theater Fund or to Saluda County "Save Our Strays".

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Travis Park Cemetery, Linda's great-nephews Will and Caleb Caldwell will be officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
