A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008, in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Mike Smith officiating.
Mrs. Jeffords was born in Lamar, SC, a daughter of the late Benjamin Davis Colclough and Florence Ann Parnell Colclough. She was a graduate of Columbia College and was a retired English teacher, after over 30 years’ service in the Darlington and Orangeburg public schools. She was a founding member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and was the oldest living member. Mrs. Jeffords was a member and past president of the Kappa Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International.
She was an active supporter of the Columbia College Alumni Association and an avid Clemson and IPTAY supporter. She was the widow of Joe Sam Jeffords.
Survivors: two sons, Joe Jeffords (Mary) of Orangeburg, Coke Jeffords (Tina) of Pendleton, SC; five granddaughters, Emma Mulhearn (Dr. Thomas) of Durham, NC, Karen Jeffords of San Francisco, CA, Catherine Jeffords of Lexington, SC, Elizabeth Jeffords of Simpsonville, SC, Laura Perry of Orangeburg; two great-granddaughters, Ella Mulhearn and Hailey Mulhearn of Durham, NC, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dukes-Harley Funeral Home; other times at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jeffords, 1459 Huntington Drive and the funeral home.
