Norwood Hall Obituary

Norwood L. "Buck" Hall
December 6, 1941 - August 23, 2021
Camden, South Carolina - Norwood L. "Buck" Hall, 79, passed away on August 23, 2021. Buck was born on December 6, 1941 in Cassatt, SC to the late Norwood C. and Pauline Young Hall. He was married to Eleanor Clayton Hall for 58 years.
Buck was a member of Camden First Baptist Church for over 40 years and belonged to Doug Wyant's Sunday School class. He served the church as a deacon and a president of Young at Heart. Over the years, Buck showed his concern for young people by volunteering as a Guardian ad Litem, coaching recreational league football, working as a Shriner, and helping sponsor banquets for PAL's disabled baseball team.
Buck served six years in the National Guard and was a member of American Legion Post 17. He greatly enjoyed his 36 years of working as a mechanic at DuPont and was fortunate enough to be named a finalist for South Carolina Textile Citizen of the Year in 1988.
Sports played a huge part in Buck's life as he was a member of two state championship teams in high school: 1957 Midway High basketball and 1957 Camden High football. He was a die hard South Carolina Gamecock fan and enjoyed playing golf with his friends.
Buck had a kind and generous heart and never met a stranger. He loved his family, his in-laws, and his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his wife, Buck is survived by his son Scott Hall (Myra), granddaughter Miranda, sister Charlotte Fowler, many relatives, and a multitude of friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Janet Pratt.
A funeral service for Buck will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 28 at Camden First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Quaker Cemetery. Reverend Phillip Gerrald will officiate. The family requests masks to be worn during the service. Memorials may be made to the benevolent fund of Camden FBC or a charity of one's choice.
Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

I have so many good memories of Buck. He was more than a cousin-he was a family man. He loved everybody equally and everything he did he did with a servant´s heart. I will remember Buck Hall for the rest of my life here on earth. He has finished the race-well done good and faithful servant.

Buck was my daddy´s first cousin and they grew up together in Camden as they were only five months apart. I grew to know Buck because he was ALWAYS there. He loved his family and friends and would do anything to help. He and Eleanor were at my wedding, my third son´s baptism, and both of my parent´s funerals. What really made me cry happy tears was walking into the church and seeing he and Eleanor at my husband´s funeral. He was a loving, caring, and compassionate man. He was a child of God. The world may be a little sadder with him gone but Buck wouldn´t want us to feel that way. He would want us to rejoice in a life well lived. Well done good and faithful servant. I love you and miss you already.

Find memories! Buck was my roommate at Boys State in 1957. What a fun time we had! Both from small towns and both coming off state championship football teams. God bless him and his family may he Rest In Peace.
