Randall Gardner Obituary

Randall Byrd Gardner, a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2025, at the age of 95. He was born on August 14, 1930, to D. Frank and Mayo Byrd Gardner, the middle child of thirteen.

Randall grew up in a large and loving family. His brothers and sisters include Elease (Max) Small, Nettie Mae (Carl) Fountain, Mendal (Nancy) Gardner, Frank Gardner Jr., Virginia (Bub) Douglass, Sarah (Bill) McMackin, Max (Maree) Gardner, Sybil (Jimmy) Smith, Marian (Jimmy) Newsom, Doug (Harriet) Gardner, Frankie (Donnie) Phillips, and Laney (Wayne) Lucas. He is survived by his brother Doug Gardner, his sister Frankie Phillips, and his brother-in-law Jimmy Newsom.

In 1954, Randall married Elizabeth (Libby) Truesdale. Together they raised two daughters, Lee Anna (Wesley) Weber and Sara Lynn (Barry) Markus, and shared 71 years of marriage. He was a proud grandfather to Maria (Greg) Beals, Jason (Jenna) Weber, Allison (Jesus) Dominguez, Edward (Callie) Markus, and the late Daniel Markus, and a great-grandfather to eleven.

Randall served in Germany with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired after a 30-year career with E.I. DuPont. Following his retirement, he and Libby moved to Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

Above all, Randall cherished his faith and his family. He also loved his church, the beach, golf, and the Gamecocks. He will be remembered for his love, kindness, and devotion, and will be deeply missed.
