Robert "Bob" Leslie Allen BEAUFORT Robert "Bob" Leslie Allen, age 78, of Beaufort, SC and Mattapoisett MA, passed away on Tuesday, August 7th, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA following an extended illness. Born January 11, 1934 in Waco Texas, he was the son of the late Ferrell and Beulah (Jeffreys) Allen. He was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Allen. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and had a fulfilling, progressive 30-year career with the Federal Aviation Administration. Following retirement, he enjoyed working as a consultant with AT&T and RVA. Surviving immediate family members include his wife of 52 years, Ann Marie (Alden) Allen, and two daughters, Leslie Ann Allen of New Bern, NC and Charlee Hoshour of Matthews, NC. Most often described as "the nicest guy", he will be remembered for his intellect, high values and dedication to his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, football, playing bridge and pondering conspiracy theories. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 11th, at 2:00 PM at the First Congregational Church of Mattapoisett. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a memorial contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project, 1120 G Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005. It is said that a Texan wanders the world during adulthood, but always returns home to Texas at journey's end. Happy trails, Bobby, we will miss you.
