Robert Hoffman Obituary

ANDERSON - Robert John Hoffman, 77, of 1304 Wendover Way, husband of Linda Robuck Hoffman, died after a brief illness Friday, July 18th in Hospice House in Anderson.

Born September 18, 1930, in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late John Jacob Hoffman and Lillian Keeble Hoffman.

He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean conflict. He attended Oglethorpe University and the Southern College of Pharmacy in Atlanta where he received the Merck Award as Outstanding Graduate in Pharmacy. He received a Master’s of Art in Higher Education from Clemson University in 1976. He was employed by Eli Lilly & Company for 31 years. After retiring in 1991, he founded Anderson Northside Counseling, where he specialized in short-term therapy. He was a lifelong member of the Masonic Order of Secaucus Hudson Lodge of New Jersey, and a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 51 years, Linda R. Hoffman of the home; one daughter, Lillian H. Bowers of Estill, and two sons, Robert J. Hoffman, Jr. of Columbia and Gregory Vance Hoffman of Atlanta.

Funeral services and interment will be at Grace Episcopal Church on McDuffie Street in Anderson, Wednesday, July 23 at 5:30 p.m. with a reception to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace Episcopal Church or to the South Carolina Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.

Dear Mrs.Hoffman,

I worked for Merck for 25 years, most of which were spent in the Anderson area. Bob and I were friends for all that time.

I am saddened to hear of his passing.
He was a good man and helped me to
ger established in Anderson.

Please know that I share with you in your grief as you make the the adjustment to life without "Bob". Bob and I served on the board of the mental health association of Anderson County together. I'm sure there will be a void in your life as well as in everyone's life who knew him well. I pray that God will sustain you and the rest of your family at this difficult time.
