Not sure what to say?

Donna and Children: Robby married so well and was blessed with a wonderful life. He told me many times "God doesn't make mistakes." Having him leave the pulpit sure seemed like a mistake but I trust he was more needed somewhere else. I worked as Robby's secretary at Lake Shealy Anne when there were 14 members; look at Saxe Gotha now! Lexington was blessed with Robby McBride; a powerful teacher and leader. Raised a Baptist, I even jumped into the 'melting pot'. I haven't been to Saxe Gotha since Robby left but I matured spiritually there with his guidance.
Love and prayers to you all from Alashea and Chandler Markley and Jamie (Markley) Buckland.

Robby was a great inspiration to everyone at Aiken Middle School. When he came here 4 years ago,I thought he was too old to handle middle schoolers. His spirit and enthusiasm quickly took away any doubts. We had much more in common than either of us could ever admit to each other. We were diagnosed with cancer at the same time, but more than that we are both sinners saved by grace.I didn't know him in the bad times, but I knew him as a devoted family man,a fighter until the very end and a man of God.I will miss him every day and pray for continued strength and comfort for Donna and family

May the light of the Lord continue to shine in the seeds you planted for those of us "left behind."
My husband and I grew in our faith and took root at Saxe Gotha. Pastor McBride had an unforgettable way of delivering a sermon where every word stuck with you throughout the day. He had three sermons and a full house with each one. Our love and prayers are extended to the family.

To all the McBrides-Our hearts are heavy because of the loss of Robbie.Watching him grow-up in Conway we knew him better than many others. He was a great personality who excelled at everthing and was loved by many.

Sharyl & Dan Groscost

April 27, 2010

Even though we moved out-of-state about 20 years ago, we never forgot Robby, and amazingly Robby never forgot us. Of the multitude of people he has known throughout his busy life; who would expect him to remember a family who was in his congregation years ago during a relative small period in his lifetime? THAT's JUST ROBBY... the personal way he made everyone feel special! After our move(s), we continued coming back to visit our son and his family. A highlight of our return visits was to come to Saxe Gotha and hear Robby deliver another witty and enriching message. He would spot us in the congregation and give us that "it's great to see you again" smile. ... and after the service, greet us with warm hugs, that twinkle in his eyes, and his unforgettable smile. As we talked, it was obvious he remembered and cared for our entire family. He has warmheartedly impacted our lives like no other. We love and will miss Robby. We are sorry we couldn't have had Robby, Donna, and his family in our lives more. We missed a lot of years; but gained so much in that cherished time knowing the McBride family.
Our dream is to move back "home" to Lexington and Saxe Gotha where the memory of Robby will live in our hearts forever.
Our love & prayers to your family, Sharyl & Dan Groscost and family

We are so sorry for your loss. Our names won't mean anything to you, however something I wanted to say and should have said to Robbie when he was living. Harold and I attended Saxe Gotha a few years ago and stopped going when Robbie left. After his sermons, we would drive home quietly most of the time because he always gave us something to think about. The silence would be broken by one single statement, "Robbie makes you want to be a better person". He was a great teacher!

April 27, 2010

I've never had a pastor's words stick with me the way Robby's did. My family and I have grown from his sermons and Bible classes at Saxe Gotha. I specifically remember an Easter sermon theme that was "Just Believe". I pray that you are at peace Robby and that your family has the peace of Christ in their hearts. My family and I loved Robby. I remember when he began at Saxe Gotha, his little office would be full of kids, because we were all so crazy about him. He was fun and warm. He made our church feel like a family, very welcoming. And his sermons were the best! I am so sorry he is gone. I am very proud and thankful to have known him. Donna and kids, you are in my prayers.

Robbie was inspirational in rekindling my relationship with the Lord based on the teachings of a new denominations from being Catholic. I am forever grateful for him bringing me closer in my spiritual walk. I will never forget his "Getting out of the Boat" series and his last sermon at Saxe Gotha. I still have that rock, and reflect back on that sermon often like it was yesterday saying to myself "what would my marker say". What have I done in this world? What will I be remembered by? Robbie, you have made a mark that will last in our hearts and minds forever. One can only hope to cast the shadow that you had in people's lives. Thank you to his family for sharing him with us. Thank you to God for giving him such talent for spreading the word. We (my now husband, Michael) and I will miss you, but are reassured that you are in your final home and resting place free from pain. To his family--may you find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Donna, Parris, Rob, Christi, and Ginny, The Bob Paulling family would like to offer our deepest sympathies in the death of your husband and Dad. We loved Robby and were thankful to have him as our pastor and friend while we lived in Lexington. Robby baptized Brittany and took Bob through "Robby's Boot Camp". We grew in the Lord during our time at Saxe Gotha. I often think of the dynamic sermons Robby gave us during that time and I am so thankful we could be a part of that. He was a special person and we loved him dearly. He is at peace now and pain free. May God's grace and love surround each one of you as you mourn the loss of your husband and Dad. Just wanted you to know how much Robbie and your family are appreciated for all your years of faithful service to our Lord!! His presence here will be missed and his memory will stay with us forever! Till we're all home again! Prayers and Blessings to all his life has affected and touch! God Bless!

Wendy Groscost

April 26, 2010

Robby had a gift for reaching into your heart during his services at Saxe Gotha and relating the words of the Lord into your everyday life. I have read that others have said that they felt like he was preaching directly to them, and it's true, I felt the same way. Robby baptized me and my first son, Tristan. When he introduced Tristan to the congregation, he held him up high into the air like on the movie, "The Lion King." That was how Robby did things. :)

How many people can say that they did what they were born to do? Robby was born to bring the words of the Lord to everyone and he did so with passion and zest every Sunday.

Please accept our condolences for your loss. Just know that he will live on in the hearts and memories of so many.

Sincerely,
The Groscost Family

I thank God for the gift of Robby. Years ago we were looking for a Church & we visited Saxe Gotha. Robby had us all laughing with his clever wit. As we turned to leave the service my 6 year old turned to me and said, " Gosh, Mom this church doesn't take so long." I was so impressed that Robby had gotten a 6yr old to listen in Church and enjoy it! We had found our home. Robby will live on in the hearts of all who loved him and I hope the love we all have for him overflows on you in a great wave of comfort to lesson your sorrow.

April 26, 2010

Not many Ministers' of Religion have Robby's powerful, compassionate, non-judging, motivational and genuine happy-to-be-with-you attitude. His hearty laugh was contagious; even during his sermons. One of the greatest "treasures" I own is a
taped recording of one of Robby's
Sunday sermons about keeping the faith thru human "tests and trials". I've shared it often and everyone says it's truly wonderful and inspiring. It is! Thank you Robby! You may have left this world, but your spirit will live on thru you and the wonderful person you were. God bless and be with your family during this time of loss.

Dear Donna and family,
To hear of Robby's passing today was so sad for me. He was a big part of our lives...he became a good friend of Bryans and to later marry Bryan and I in 1999 and shortly after Robby performed the twins baptism.
I remember very little about the night Bryan died except Robby coming and being by my side praying for us all and trying to help me cope with life without Bryan. He became a life preserver during the days and weeks following Bryans death. I'll forever be thankful for his friendship and encouraging words from the book he knew so well.
May you and your family find peace and happiness in the days ahead. God bless you,

To all of the McBrides -

Capture each moment-
Treasure each day.
We know not when life
Will be taken away.

Let your heart guide your actions-
Your mind guide your word
May your thoughts find expression-
Your soul at last heard. RDL

May your many happy memories of times with Robby help to fill the holes in your hearts.

Love,

Ryan Luthren

I am very sorry to hear of Robby's passing. I grew up in his church at Saxe Gotha and even though I haven't seen him in many years I will always remember him as being a very positive, cheerful guy. I always enjoyed speaking with him after church on sundays. My prayers are with your family.

Robbie will be deeply missed. He helped me when I was an arrogant youth, to a maturing adult, to when I was a husband and a father. He helped you find the good in yourself and not just God.
