Batesburg, South Carolina - Robert Evan Stone, 96, of Batesburg, passed away on November 3, 2023. Mr. Stone was born in Batesburg, to the late Ellie Collum and Andrew Evans Stone. Mr. Stone was the owner and operator of the Leesville Cleaners and was a proud WWII U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are his daughters, Carolyn Hurt (Phil) of Saluda, and Lesa Sox (Marty) of Cayce; grandchildren, Laura Corley (Matt), Leann Hutto (Luke), Jeremy Matthews, and Jessica Matthews; great-grandchildren, Veronica, Hamp, Ella, Ridge, and Reid. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stone was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Fayth Craps Stone; brother, Lorenza Stone; and sisters, Delories Rauch, and Patricia Rankin.
The service for Mr. Stone will be held at 12 P.M. on Monday, November 6th, at First Baptist Church of Batesburg with burial following in Batesburg Cemetery. The Rev. Henry Stamper will officiate. The visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until 11:30 A.M. prior to the service. Milton Shealy Funeral Home is serving the Stone family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Batesburg, 436 W Church St, Batesburg-Leesville, SC 29006.
