Ruby Mahoney Obituary

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Ruby P. Mahoney, nee Ruby Grace Patterson, and beloved wife of Neil J. Mahoney, passed away quietly at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital on April 2, 2011 â€' 50 years and one day after their wedding took place in Beaufort.

Born to the late John William Patterson and his wife, Sarah J. Patterson in Alexander City, AL, she is survived by her sister, Billie P. Jones and her husband, Bobby G. Jones, both long-time residents of Columbia. Ruby was predeceased by three sisters: Ms. Frances Patterson, Mrs. Catherine Turano, and Mrs. Pauline Sexton. Ruby and Neil Mahoney lived in Columbia since the 1990's, after having shared many happy years in Chicago, upstate New York, Hartford, CT and Winston-Salem, N.C.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, April 4, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation will follow. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be donated to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3600 Devine Street, Columbia, SC 29205.
