Miss Martha, how upset I was to learn of Steve's passing.

I had always heard about "Martha and Steve" from a mutual friend. His kindness, his generosity with his time and love was what I remembered. I was then able to meet him and you, and the stories didn't do him justice for he was far more than these wonderful qualities.

What an interesting man; he spent his time explaining to me and sharing with me the wonderful Pecan. He gave some to me to take home, we've never had a better Pecan! He explained septic systems so that the " Yankees" would understand; he was absolutely right and correct. Such an innocuous subject but what he taught us is used to this day.

You are both in my thoughts and prayers. Please know that Steve will be greatly missed by this Yankee.

Lots of love and light
Patty

Knew Steve and worked on projects and also work together during hurricane Hugo. Steve was always a pleasure to be around. Although in different troops and towns we shared a common brotherhood as Eagle Scouts. He lived by these codes in his work faith and family. After retirement we kept in touch running into him on the island many times. After the 25 anniversary of Hugo I called him. Those memories were still fresh as after the storm we found a way on to James Island we found our homes still in place although I tried to jump a ditch and fell in. Steve was waiting in the car and will never forget is smile as I slished and slosh my way back to his truck. We both had a few laughs that day. We also shared a love for music and had some interesting takes on the world. Steve my brother you will be missed. Something told me last Christmas when I saw Steve at Walgreens it would be the last . The memories of knowing such a good friend will be with me. To Steve's family you are all in my prayers as I know your loss. He will be missed.

Martha and Will,

I am so deeply sorry about Steve's passing. Our entire family is blessed to have been a part of yours - Steve was amazing - his kindness, wisdom, and advice over the years were invaluable. His smile and laugh was infectious! His love for his family was always present in his conversations and actions. Even though we cannot be with you during this time, our thoughts and prayers are with you and his family. All our love, the Lightsey Family (Jan, Dizzy, Stephen, and Michael)
