Stevie is one of those people who act like their parents. Thoughtful, kind, and full of love. Tina, u r all those things. Y'all should have called him smiley instead of Stevie. My grandma used to tell me that God always takes the special angels early. I believe her now. God bless u Tina, Steve, Liz and Caroline.

My heart hurts deeply for you all. Caroline, you were one of my first playmates...your brother, actually was the first. He didn't mind playing with the little girl next door and was always so caring and sweet to me. He didn't think about me, being a girl, but being a friend. That is a true heart, a true caring person. I have so many memories close to my heart with the Deierlein Family. So many times playing in the yard, spending the night, having dinner. Our lives took us in different directions to which I wish we had stayed closer in contact. I feel like I have missed a lot over the years, especially about Stevie that I would have loved to have shared time and thoughts with him. I am thankful that Stevie lived and was the loving, caring, fun guy that everyone could feel good when being around him. That is living and Stevie did just that. I am proud of my friend and will never forget him. I still have pictures of him at my birthday parties when we were kids. Those, I will cherish forever. I am praying that God gives us all peace and heals us so that Stevie doesn't see us sad, but will see us celebrating in the loudest voices possible...GO GAMECOCKS!!!! Love you Stevie and my Deierlein Family.

I grew up and went to school with Liz all my life so of course knowing Steve was a added bonus and gift. He has to be the most kind-hearted decent man Ive had the pleasure of knowing. People always say that someone would give you the shirt off of your back, but Stephen ACTUALLY WOULD if you needed it. My Deepest Condolences to all of the Deierlein Family. Stevie was an Amazing person with the Biggest Heart. He always had a smile on his face and was never a stranger to anyone. I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to call him a Friend for the last 20 yrs.I will miss Stevie's random texts at all hours of the morning just to say Hello, and to talk nonsense.....those messages will always make me smile just thinking about them. It is with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes that I must say good bye to one of the most kind hearted, fun, free spirits I've ever had the privilege and pleasure of calling friend. I will surely miss the date request, impromptu marriage proposels and of course the random 'Hey it's Stevie, can I get your number and we can go out sometime" Facebook private messages. I, unfortunately will be unable to attend the service due to the travel, but he will know I'm there in spirit. May the Lord walk beside you and guide you all in your time of grieving and sorrow.
