Thomas Warren Obituary

Dr. Thomas Baker Warren, Jr. (Tommy), age 90, of Chapin, SC-formerly of Allendale, SC-passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025.

Born on December 12, 1934, to Thomas Baker Warren, Sr. and Mannie Wardlaw Warren of Allendale, Tommy graduated from Allendale High School in 1953 and Presbyterian College in 1957, where he proudly played football for four years and was named an All-American Lineman.

On August 17, 1958, he married the love of his life, Marcia Haile Warren, in Newberry, SC.

Tommy earned his medical degree from the Medical College of South Carolina in Charleston (now the Medical University of South Carolina, or MUSC) in 1961. Following medical school, he served his country as a Captain in the U.S. Army and as a hospital commander in Korea.

In 1964, Dr. Warren returned to Allendale and joined Dr. H.L. Laffitte, where they served Allendale County together for over four decades in family practice. In Allendale, Tommy and Marcia raised their family and were active members of Allendale Presbyterian Church, where Tommy served as both a Deacon and an Elder.

Following retirement, he and Marcia moved to Chapin, SC, where they became members of Lake Murray Presbyterian Church. Tommy enjoyed boating, playing golf, spending time outdoors, and reading.

Tommy is survived by his beloved sister, Mary Jo Warren Dewar; his three sons and their spouses: Thomas B. Warren III (Baker) and Jennifer, William R. Warren (Bill) and Ginger, and Charles H. Warren and Janelle. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Tommy IV (Kyle), Richard, Andrew (Vehra), Corbet, Savanna, and Ava; and great-grandfather to two great-grandsons: Baker V and Bo.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert Wardlaw Warren, and his cherished wife Marcia.

Tommy was a man of many hats-deeply loved and admired by all who knew him. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed quail hunting and shrimping. He was a devoted Christian, a role model, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend-an enduring example of integrity and compassion.
