Columbia, South Carolina - Major David Lee Biddle, U.S. Army (Ret.), 87, passed away on June 15, 2025.

Dave was born on January 4, 1938, in Williamsburg, PA, the son of the late Myron K. Biddle and Ruth Biddle. He earned a B.S. degree from Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, PA, and a Master's degree in Psychology from Purdue University.

His military honors include the Airborne Badge, Ranger Tab, and Expert Infantryman's Badge, as well as the Bronze Star Medal, Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, two Army Commendation Medals, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm – Unit Citation for service with the 101st Airborne Division.

Following his military service, Dave served as an adjunct professor at Limestone College for many years. He was especially proud of his contributions to the community and his work in the Mental Health Services Division of the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, where he served from February 1982 until February 2000.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edie Biddle; his son, Michael Biddle; his daughter, Michaelle Biddle (Erin Burns); his brother, Larry Biddle (Helen); his sister, Anne Focht; and "special daughter," Marty Hostetler.

A service to celebrate his life, with military honors, will be announced.

Dave was always Mr Positive. I always enjoyed spending time with him. We crossed paths several times after his retirement. Rest in peace, brother!

Another Airborne Ranger and great American Patriot now rests in honored glory as God's newest Angel. Major Biddle's service to our great nation is now enshrined in the annals of military history as a selfless soldier who answered the call to duty. May God's loving hand guide each family member and loved ones as they long remember the sacrifices and legacy of this military hero.
