Wallace Pender, Sr. SPRINGFIELD - Funeral services for Wallace David Pender, Sr. 80 of Springfield, SC will be held two p.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Springfield with burial in the Springfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Tuesday, August 15 th at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be sent to First Baptist Church of Springfield, P.O. Box 368, Springfield, SC 29146. Wallace passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017. Born in Barnwell County, SC he was a son of the late Morgan Leroy Pender and Estelle Williams Pender. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Springfield where he sang in the church choir, Dean Swamp Masonic Lodge #172 and was a Shriner. He formally owned and operated Pender's Restaurant in Springfield, was instrumental in forming the Springfield Rescue Squad where he served as captain, was on the board of the Orangeburg County Council on Aging, formerly worked in maintenance at Westvaco and Talley Corbett Box Company, retired from Daniels Construction Company where he worked in instrumentation and loved singing Southern Gospel Music. Survivors include his wife Mary Olive Fanning Pender; daughter Mary Anne (Michael) Jamison of Blackville; sons Wallace David (Rhonda) Pender, Jr. of North, Tony (Kim) Pender of Columbia; brother Meredith "Strut" (Helen) Pender of Springfield; grandchildren Mary Beth Jamison (Paul Lyons), Megan (Colin) Ashe, Mike Jamison, Holli Pender, Olivia Lucas, Preston Pender; great grandchildren Jenah and Weston Ashe; brother-in- law Bill Temples of Springfield. He was preceded in death by a sister Diane Temples and a grandson Christopher David Pender. Folk Funeral Home, Inc. and Crematory, Williston, SC is assisting the family with arrangements.
