Columbia, South Carolina-Wilda Florence Wilson Wilson, of Columbia, passed into the presence of her Lord on May 22, 2022. She was 90.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Galax, Virginia to Walter Glenn Wilson and Eula Florence Melton Wilson, the fourth of six children. She was the wife of the late Roswell C. Wilson, Sr. DDS.
She attended Berea College from 1950 to 1953, and graduated with a Diploma Degree in Nursing. During her nursing career, she worked on the Spinal Cord Injury Ward at the VA Hospital in Richmond, VA., and also as a public health nurse caring for tuberculosis patients. She met her husband, Roswell, at the First Baptist Church in Richmond where they later married.
Mrs. Wilson helped her husband in his dental practice. She also supported her husband's calling to the foreign mission field. She washed and folded hundreds of baby clothes over the years to be distributed to those in need during his trips.
She was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church in Columbia. She was involved in many Bible studies across town where she had many friends. She was also a member of a Ladies' circle at church.
She loved her grandchildren who called her, "Gaga." She dedicated much of her life and time caring for and loving them.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roswell, and sisters Colleen Wilson and Wanda Wilson. Mrs. Wilson is survived by her children: Karen Sammons, Roswell Wilson, Jr., and Keith Wilson; grandchildren: John Coward
(Megan), Melissa Coward, and Michael Coward and 2 great grandchildren; brothers Ohlen Wilson, Roger Wilson, and sister Barbara(Susie) McMasters.
The family would like to thank the many friends, family, caregivers and pastors that have provided support over the years.
A private service will be held at a later date with burial at Northeast Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northeast Presbyterian Church to support missions.
