William Whiteside Obituary

William Stanley "Stan" Whiteside

July 26, 1955 - September 19, 2025

Lexington, South Carolina - Mr. William Stanley "Stan" Whiteside, 70, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on September 19, 2025, in his hometown.

Born on July 26, 1955, in Lexington, South Carolina, Stan was a lifelong resident who took great pride in his community and the life he built there. He dedicated his career to South Carolina Electric and Gas, where he proudly worked as a lineman and technician.

Stan was a devoted member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, where he served faithfully as an usher, on committees and offered his gifts wherever they were needed. His presence was a familiar and comforting one to many within the congregation.

He found joy in the simple pleasures of life - his beautifully maintained lawn was a source of pride and admiration among neighbors. A true friend to wildlife, Stan made it his mission to feed every creature that wandered near his home. He adored his three dogs - Harley, Tucker, and Sparky - who brought him endless companionship. He especially loved time spent with his family rooting for a Gamecock win.

Stan is survived by his loving wife, Lynda Hook Whiteside; his mother, Barbara Whiteside; his sister, Kim French (Tim); his daughter, Ashley Butler (Bowe); his son, Brandon Whiteside; his grandchildren Reece, Paxton, and Whit Butler; his stepsons Keith Powell (Ashley) and granddaughter Landon; Kevin Powell (MaryBeth) and granddaughter Rachel; brother-in-law, Robbie Hook (Suzie) and their children, Micheal (Jessica) and Nicholas; sister-in-law, Diane Hook (Hal); brother-in-law, Eddie (Lilly) and their children, Hendrix and Jesse.

He is also remembered by his niece, Lauren Mann (Jordan) and their children, Poppy and Patton; his niece, Malia French and his nephews, Andrew Whiteside and Devin French.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nevin Whiteside Jr. and brother, Wayne Whiteside.

A funeral service will be held at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lexington, South Carolina at 4 pm on Thursday September 25th. A visitation will precede the service at 3 pm.

Stan's memory will live on through those who knew him best - his family, friends, church community, and coworkers from SCE&G. May his memory bring comfort to all who loved him. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Peter's Lutheran church or other charities within the Lexington community.

Stanley will be sorely missed by all of us who worked at the Lexington crew quarters. He was a heck of a lineman and a good friend. His laughter was infectious, he loved to pick. He enjoyed working during the day as well as working at night and on the weekends as we restored power. A brotherhood for sure. Rest in peace Brother we love you.
