Lexington, South Carolina - Yvonne Julienne (née Denomme) Isola, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, in Lexington, South Carolina. She was born on September 29, 1940, in Detroit, Michigan, the fifth child and youngest daughter of Omer and Marie (Gagnier) Denomme.
In 1959, at just 19 years old, she followed her heart and "went rogue" when she married Andrew C. ("Andy") Isola, a newly commissioned Marine Corps Lieutenant. Their 41-year marriage included global travel, raising five children, serving their communities, and navigating a sometimes-glamorous, sometimes-very challenging life. Through it all, she kept her humor, her strength, and her fierce devotion to family.
At age 40, Yvonne returned to college and fulfilled her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. She served in several medical roles and ultimately found her true calling as a hospice nurse. She believed deeply in the sacredness of every life and considered it an honor to love people out of this world while supporting the families who stood beside them. She later cared for Andy throughout his ten-year cancer journey with grace and courage.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Andy, her son Paul Stephen, her parents, and four siblings. She is survived by her children Andrew (Vicki), Eileen, Colleen "Kelly," and Matthew (Nitsa); six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her compassion, wit, Bridge-playing mastery, and ability to make any gathering feel like home. She showed how ordinary moments could carry extraordinary love - and how laughter could be its own kind of medicine.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held November 29th at 3:00pm at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lexington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Sistercare,
