WALNUT COVE — Oscar Lee Tesh, 86, died Monday afternoon, May 5, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center.
He was born August 14, 1927 in Forsyth County to Oscar Lee and Grace Hartman Tesh. Mr. Tesh retired from Piedmont/.USAir with over 40 years of service. He was a member of the Mt. Airy Racing Pigeon Club and the NC Bee Keepers Association. He was a council member with the Old Hickory Boy Scouts of America and played in the Moravian Band in Old Salem. He also collected old model cars. He loved animals, especially his parakeet, "Chip" and was known as the "Animal Whisper". He loved farming and working with his hands. Mr. Tesh was a member of Fulp Moravian Church and loved his church family and served his country proudly in the US Navy.
An 11:00 am funeral service was held on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Fulp Moravian Church with Rev. Dan Nelson and Rev. Darrell Hampton officiated. Burial followed in the Church Graveyard.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Tesh is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jackie Holcomb Tesh of the home; seven children, Joyce and Bobby Jacob of Winston-Salem, Karen and Mike Jacob of Brunswick, GA, Bill and Merrie Tesh and Robin and Walt Southern, both of King, Barry Tesh of Jacksonville, FL, Beverly and Jerry Hayes of Winston-Salem and Steve Kiser of Jonesville; sixteen grandchildren, Chuck and Jeana Jacob of Winston-Salem, Sandi and Philip Carrroll of Asheville, Heather and Daryl Herndon and Robbin and Michael Roff, both of Brunswick, GA, William and Stephanie Tesh of Dundalk, MD, Clifton Tesh of Winston-Salem, Gena Newsome of Winston-Salem, Abbie Newsome of King, Michael and Diane Lashmit of Rural Hall, Wally Lashmit of Walkertown, Angel Golden of King, Jamie Southern of Mayodan, Zak Hayes of Winston-Salem, Rachael Hayes of Winston-Salem, Garrett Kiser and Blair Kiser, both of Hamptonville; twenty-one beloved great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Douglas and husband Everette of Pine Hall and Jane Burns and husband Harry of FL.
The family received friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Burroughs Funeral Home and other times at the home.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the King Dialysis Center for their kind and compassionate care.
