Alexander Chrisidis Obituary

Alexander "Alex" Chrisidis, 83, a resident of Plainville, MA for over 40 years, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023 at AccentCare Hospice Center in Milton, MA. He was the beloved husband of Eleftheria "Liberty/Libby" (Gekouglou) Chrisidis for 42 years.

Born in Anoixia, Thessaloniki, Greece on October 1, 1939, he was a loving son of the late Xristos Chrisidis and Maria (Iosifidis) Chrisidis.

He enlisted in the Greek Navy at the age of 16 after losing his parents in World War II. He also proudly served in the Royal Greek Navy for two years. He traveled the world as a Seaman for about 20 years. The stories he told and history he had to share were immeasurable.

After all of the hardships he endured, his determined, hardworking nature finally paid off and in 1979, he became the proud owner of Plainville House of Pizza in Plainville. His dedication and love for this business was inspiring. He genuinely loved his customers and formed some amazing lifelong friendships.

"Any kind of job you do, Any job at all! Do it good!"

Besides his wife, he leaves his only daughter, Maria Anna Chrisidis and the two loves of his life, his grandchildren, Alexander and Libby Monsalve of North Attleboro, MA. At the time of his passing he was surrounded by his loving family, including his only surviving brother, John Chrisidis and niece Zoe Chrisidis. He also is survived by an abundant amount of cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Panagioti Chrisidis and Despina Chrisidis.

His funeral service, to which relatives and friends are most kindly invited to attend, will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI. Interment will follow in Plainville Cemetery, West Bacon Street, Plainville, MA. Visitation will be held in the church prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 AM.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, North Attleboro, MA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Alex to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.

I was lucky enough to have been a part of Alex´s business which he passed down to his daughter, Maria. I was able to work with him before he retired. Well kind of retired, he would still pop in time to time to say hi and make a little dough. Alex always had some wise words, he was an amazing man! He will be greatly missed!
I love you all so much!

Alex was a kind beautiful man. I had the pleasure of meeting him when he moved to Plainville and opened the Plainville House of Pizza. He always greeted me with a warm smile and a loud enthusiastic "Georgie!". He was filled with love and pride of his wife, daughter, business, community, and heritage. My favorite memory was sharing a Greek Easter post-midnight gathering shared with two police officers from Athens. Alex dropped the officers at police station, while the meal was prepared. We had a wonderful visit despite the very profound language barrier.
Rest in Peace Alex!
