Anthony Auretto Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Auretto, of South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, and formerly of Foxboro, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and children. Born in Norwood, MA, on July 25, 1938, Tony was the son of Antonio and Helen (Jokubauskas) Auretto. A proud graduate of Norwood High School, Class of 1956, Tony went on to serve his country with honor as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force.

Following his service, Tony earned degrees in Engineering and Business from Northeastern University. He enjoyed a long and successful career at Northrop Grumman in Norwood, where he worked for 32 years in both engineering and management roles. He later served as a consultant for Allied Signal in Connecticut before taking early retirement to embrace the things he loved most.

Tony is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Jeanne (Milot) Auretto; his sons, David of East Brookfield, MA, and Paul of Litchfield, NH; his daughter-in-law Lusa of Litchfield, NH; and his cherished grandchildren: Trent of Spencer, MA; Brett of Stafford Springs, CT; and Aiden of Litchfield, NH. He was predeceased by his beloved son, Michael.

Those who knew Tony remember him as a true gentleman, whose easy-going personality, sense of humor, and integrity drew many into his wide circle of friends. A gifted athlete in his youth, he excelled in baseball, basketball, and hockey, and remained a passionate sports fan throughout his life. He also loved to travel, especially with Jeanne. Together they explored destinations far and wide, though Hawaii held a special place in his heart. After retiring, they spent many winters there enjoying the sun and snorkeling in the clear Pacific waters.

Tony embraced retirement fully. He took great joy in golfing, boating, gardening, and playing cards with close friends. A long-time member of the Bass River Yacht Club, he especially loved cruising the waters around Cape Cod and the Islands aboard their boat, A Wet Toe. Above all, Tony treasured time with his family. His love for them was constant, deep, and unwavering.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, June 10, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth, MA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 11, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Pius X Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Burial with military honors will follow on Saturday, June 14, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Francis Cemetery, Walpole, MA. The public is welcome to attend.

Jeannie and family-
We are sad to have read of Tony's passing. He was such a warm person, a gentleman, a great husband, and father to his children. You can take comfort in the fact that you both had a long and wonderful relationship. We are both happy that you were able to spend much of your time together it at our former home on the Cape.

Tony, you were the epitome of a father, father-in-law, husband, and grandparent. I was saddened to hear of your passing, which then lead me to some wonderful thoughts of memories with the family. You were a humble man, grounded, and never judging of a another. A kind true gentleman. May you rest in eternal peace, and be reunited with your heavenly family. My prayers are with the Auretto family during this time.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life. "
