Antonino "Tony" Caponigro

Antonino "Tony" Caponigro of Attleboro, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 91 years of age. Son of the late Theresa (Aguiar) and Antonino Caponigro, Sr. Loving father of Joseph Caponigro and his wife Pam of Attleboro; Dominica Ribeiro and her husband Joe of Attleboro and stepchildren Christine Drew of Myrtle Beach, SC and Michael Dockray of Attleboro. Beloved partner to the late Susan Lynn Dockray. Cherished grandfather of Brian Caponigro; Sean Caponigro; Lauren Goodwin and her husband Tim; Sarah Ribeiro; Lucas Ribeiro; Ella Ribeiro all of Attleboro and Kennedy Drew; Richie Drew; Christopher Drew and Caroline Drew all of Myrtle Beach, SC. Great grandfather of Thomas Goodwin and Connor Goodwin. Adored brother of the late Mary Amaral, John Caponigro; Theresa Thomas, Christina Cloud; Virginia Charette; Carmina Elshant and Ronald Caponigro.

Tony was born and raised on Linden Street in Attleboro, MA and remained a resident of Mansfield and Attleboro throughout his 91 years of life. He was a graduate of Attleboro High School Class of 1948. He became a great entrepreneur and was proud owner of Tony Caponigro's Title V Inspections, Tony Caponigro's Wildlife Gallery and part owner of A. Caponigro and Company, Inc. He held a Title V Inspector licensure and previously a Massachusetts Real Estate Broker's License.

Tony was a member of the Portuguese American Club, Ducks Unlimited, National Wildlife Federation and the Attleboro Elks Lodge #1014. Tony was a selectman in the town of Mansfield from 1972 to 1981. He was a pigeon enthusiast and raised fancy pigeons since the age of 10 and became recognized across the country for his award winning pigeons. He started building houses with his family in Attleboro when he was 17 years old and went on to build thousands of houses in Attleboro and the surrounding areas, also known as the famous "Cappy" built homes. He played football for Attleboro High School during his high school years and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 from 4-8 PM at Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro. Funeral service and burial will be private. For the safety of those who wish to pay their respects, the family requests to please wear a mask.

Tony's family would like to thank the amazing staff at Sturdy Memorial Hospital and HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center for taking such good care of their father during his final days, and the visiting nurses for taking care of him over the last weeks and months. They would like to finally thank Dr. Jean Siddall-Bensson and her team for their care over the years.
